Korum Ruckbag
More about Korum
Average Rating: 5 out of 5
No. of Reviews: 11
RRP: £39.99
Year: 2008

Description: A new concept in Tackle Management. The Ruckbag is based on our Intelligent Tackle Management system (compatible with the Tackle/Rig Manager boxes). The top opening allows complete access to the main compartment. The rucksack straps are also top mounted to prevent them lying on the ground and getting dirty. The EVA base protects the base even in wet/muddy swims. The Ruckbag is also compatible with Korum chairs, especially the lightweight version. The innovative clip and strap system allows the chair to form a supported rucksack back, which maximises mobility for the roving angler.
FM short review: It’s different, of that there is no doubt. It turns the usual rucksack concept upside down, or at least on its back. I’ll be very surprised if it doesn’t catch on with a lot of anglers.

'AT LAST A RUCKSACK I MIGHT KEEP MORE THEN 12 MONTHS'
Strengths:
well made and good size pockets fits all my gear just right.like the little pockets in side and how you can get to all tackel.
Weaknesses:
Im not the biggest by far but in winter when you got all your winter clothes on i think you might struggle to get it on you back
Overall:
well pleased used it on the middle severn where i tend to move swims often when i not catching.Did feel like it was a pain to move swims cause it was easy to move.Thought it kill me to move swims with the weight of it BUT seem light on my back.

'DESIGNED WITH FISHING IN MIND'
Strengths:
Clever design, the top/side zips open and flips right back to reveal all contents and can be rested on boxes to give a working platform. The flap has two large zipped mesh pockets which are ideal for keeping flattish packets of bits that remain visable. The zipped outer and inner pockets have numerous uses to keep you organised.

Appears well made and should last.

Big enough for a day session with all your bits and works well with the lightweight chair, Small enough for a few hours stalking along the banks.
Weaknesses:
When used with chair, the straps aren't overly generous. So if your larger than average, check it out with the chair and your big winter coat.
Overall:
So much better than rummaging around in a traditional style rucksack. Its more like an extension to your tackle box! It works really well with the chair, but your tackle box must seal good or you will find those small items mixed together. The Korum type boxes with the snap-shut lids are ideal.

'THIS PRODUCT HAS REVOLUTIONISED MY RIVER FISHING.'
Strengths:
Deceptively spacious inside.
Very comfortable too carry even when fully loaded with a days worth of bait and gear.
unique opening so you are fishing "out of the bag". lots of internal pockets and very spacious external pockets the long pockets holds short banksticks. I am still exploring the different permutations for storing my river gear.
Handles at top and bottom are very usefull when rearranging yourself in a tight swim.
Weaknesses:
none so far.
though as stated in another review some more external straps for coats and maybe bank sticks would be useful.
The chair hooks keep getting caught in the zip of the main opening but this is a minor problem.
Overall:
my old holdall died in the winter and my rcuksack was too deep meaning you had to pull everything out to start fishing. Now I have the ruckbag I find myself far more inclined to move around meaning I am probably covering double the number of swims that I used to. I therefore hold this bag responsible for the increase in my Chub catches from my local stretch of the sussex ouse which is little more than a stream and cries out for a very mobile approach.

'THE MOST SENSIBLY DESIGNED RUCKSACK'
Strengths:
The concept of being able to open a rucksack and not have to fumble to find everything is marvellous
Weaknesses:
None
Overall:
Well made with high quality zips. This looks like a rucksack that will not come apart at the seams like my others have done. And a very clever design,

'BEST EVER RUCKSACK?'
Strengths:
Huge capacity from what appears at first sight to be a small rucksack. I got all of my tackle in plus some spare kit (carp tackle, float tackle and even a few pole bits and pieces) and had so much room left that I emptied the contents of the bait bucket in as well. The side pockets are a perfect size and thank God someone has produced a bag with a side pocket that takes a 1 litre thermos AND a small bottle for the milk.
Weaknesses:
The straps are too small. When the bag is fully loaded and you clip it onto the korum light weight chair you can only just get your arms through the straps even on their maximum setting. I cannot carry this when wearing a thick coat. I will have to work out a way of adding a bit of length to the straps. A minor point but the bag would be perfect if it also had a couple of compression straps on the top to hold a safety mat and spare coat.
Overall:
This is a brilliant product. I have gone through lots of bags and rucksacks looking for the perfect solution up until now my favorite was the fox ruckbag but this is far more usefull. All of the tackle is instantly accessible, the chair fastening is excellent and makes carrying the chair simple and the bag is very comfortable on your back. I periodically suffer from a slipped disk but I can carry this bag fully loaded for 30 - 40 minutes with no problems. you hardly feel you are carrying anything. Now i can roam the banks with just the rucksack on my back and a small rod quiver in my hand. No fish is now safe no matter how far from the car park!

'GREAT PIECE OF KIT.'

Takes so much tackle would have to buy more to fill it.
Weaknesses:

Overall:
Combined with the lightweight chair, it is so easy to carry the bulk of your tackle on your back. Which is great for the roving angler.

'AT LAST A FISHING RUCKSACK.'
Strengths:
Stable and cavenous.
Weaknesses:
Straps could be better
Overall:
Was getting ready for a new rucksack and chair as my last ones were suffering after 5 years abuse. So far this as fullfilled the role with no complaints and paired with the light wieght chair is very comfortable to carry. Though i would have put better shoulder straps on.

Could do with one about half the size for shorter sessions.

'THE BAG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR.'
Strengths:
Well designed, well made, and well good!
Weaknesses:
NONE
Overall:
I’ve also just sold my Korum Rucksack to pay for the Ruckbag – what a good move! Although the Rucksack is a great piece of kit and I had no complaints about it, the Ruckbag is far better for someone like me, who has to rely on walking or public transport. Previously I could only take my chair with me if I was able to blag a lift to my local lake, as it was just too much hassle to carry a rod bag, chair and rucksack. Now I only have to worry about carrying my rods as everything else is safely packed away in one convenient, lightweight and easy to carry package.

As the previous review says, it looks smaller than the Rucksack; but it appears to be a mini-Tardis! It’s much more capacious than it looks at first sight and when fully packed with my usual tackle, I am still left with room to spare, which I didn’t have with the Rucksack. The open top design is just brilliant (I’m sure it must have been designed by a woman!) No more having to delve into the depths for that bit of tackle that is always somehow at the bottom, lurking underneath everything else. Once open, all the contents are visible and easily accessible. It has got to be one of the best designed bags on the market, and I should know! I’ve been through five bags in the short time since I started fishing, but I now think that I’ve found the perfect solution for all my fishing needs.

The extra large zipped pocket on the outside is a godsend, as it fits my huge thermos flask with ease. The smaller of the two outside pockets is perfect for carrying my two small Shimano reels, and well padded so I’m not worried about them getting damaged. I’ve also found that the bag is large enough for me to fit my folding stool in, which means that I can use it for roving on the river when I choose not to take my chair with me. There are two zipped mesh compartments in the lid, and a further full length zipped pocket on the inside, (perfectly sized for a rolled up lightweight waterproof jacket) together with five open pockets, providing plenty of organised storage for bits and pieces.

I have to agree with John about the handles getting muddy, but luckily I found a solution on my first outing this afternoon. Just unclip the straps, then fold and tuck them into the two nearest open pockets. Job done!

I did have a bit of faffing around to do when it came to attaching the chair though. Doh! It would have been so much easier if I’d bothered to read the instructions….once I’d figured it out though, it was very simple and quick, and I was ready to go. I had a two mile walk to my local lake for a quick afternoon session and it was no effort at all. I found it very comfortable, and obviously had the straps adjusted correctly, as I had no problem with them slipping.

All in all, this has to be one of the best designed bits of kit on the market, and at an extremely competitive price. I’m very impressed so far, both with the ease of use and the quality. It certainly feels as if it’s built to last. I would have liked a waterproof raincover, such as is supplied with the Ruckbag, but that’s a small complaint. After all, if it rains, it can be conveniently stored under the chair.

All in all, it appears to be a very robust and well thought out bit of kit. Full marks from me!

'WELL THOUGHT OUT AND GOOD VALUE!'
Strengths:
Robust with lots of good storage pockets both inside and out with great access to all your gear without having to dig deep into a normal rucksack.
Seems to be Good quality and time will tell, but I have Korum stuff for ages and no problems so far.
Weaknesses:
Wish the straps were detachable so they do not get muddy.
Overall:
Looks to be a good product and I think will really make my life a little easier.
