'BRILLIANT!'
Strengths:
Sweet "through" action.
Very slim blank.
Nice finish.
Weaknesses:
none!
Overall:
Most of my angling takes place on small rivers, I guess with the river being ten minutes from my door, that was always going to be the way.
Chub are usually my target, and I have used many different rods for this purpose over the years, this is by far the best. Most of the swims I fish are overgrown, so 11ft is a perfect length for this situation.
The built in quiver section is around 2oz, again perfect for the fishing the small stream environment.
I am looking forward to using the Avon for taking the chub off the surface with crust in the summer months. I have had small barbel on the rod, and again the lovely through action gave brilliant feedback.
The Avon section is the equivalent to a 4oz quiver tip, and painted white is easy to see with the aid of a torch whilst night fishing with the bites really turning the tip around.
Sell the kids as camel jockeys, or the wife to the local kebab shop owner and get this lovely little rod, you will never regret it (although the wife might moan a bit!)!

'TIP TOP SMALL RIVER ROD!'
Strengths:
slim blank, simply gorges action.
Weaknesses:
that avon top!!!
cork could be beta.
Overall:
this rod is the first out when im fishing small to med rivers. i youse it for dace to chub, and on a recent chubing trip on the lugg i landed a suprise barbel of 10lb and it never falterd! i youse main lines fr 3lb to 5lb and down to 1.5lb hook links and its never let me down. im even toying with the idea of stringing braid thow it as i think it would open up a new area for this rod. ive also stalked med sized carp in the margins of carp pudels with it, its an all rounder. the only thing i falt this rod on is the rings on the avon top witch are far to large and make it all very slopy! in short i cant get enuf of this rod!

'GREAT SMALL RIVER CHUB ROD'
Overall:
This rod is perfect for small river Chubbing. I purchased one after reading the reviews on here. 3 sessions on the River Dane and 28 Chub later (2 - 4lb range) and I'm more than happy with its performance. It has a forgiving action with just enough backbone when required in those snaggy swims.

Small criticisms would be: Only one carbon 2oz quiver tip supplied which is of the fast taper variety (Not the best for small river Chub IMHO). I would have also preferred a 1.5 oz slow taper glass tip to be included. The cork handle looks ok but contains plenty of filler. I also could have done without the Avon top, which will never see the light of day.

On the whole and for the price, this is a gem of a quiver rod for those small rivers.

'A SEXY ROD THAT ISNT JUST A PRETTY FACE...'
Strengths:
This rod, on either top section, has a fantastic action. The quiver top is very sensitive and will resist hook pulls from such species as roach. the avon top is great for touch legering, or even stillwater fishing with bobbins for crucians, or perch etc. This rod is extremely light and slim, you forget you're holding it. The cosmetics are very attractive, and the build quality is of a high standard.
Weaknesses:
It is hard to fault this rod, however, I would have prefered triple leg line guides, as I am paranoid about damaging the current set. Whether the recently updated X1 version has taken this into account I am not sure.
Overall:
This rod is an excellently versatile tool for the smaller species. I have put it to good use in many situations, whether it be trotting for grayling, roving for chub, deadbaiting on pools for perch, or light method feeder fishing for bream; this rod does the lot.

Described by TFG as 'sexy' Im yet to meet a person to disagree.
