'SMOOTH'
Strengths:
superbly smooth clutch, excellent line lay, well balanced and tuff!
Weaknesses:
none really - the silver colour if i was being picky
Overall:
Having used freespool reels from the lower end of the market in the past i was astounded by the difference made by a quality reel such as the GTE-B 5000's could make to my fishing. I no longer worry about my reel letting me down - and it has been abused by the Ribble and it's Fish this season - Superb

'A WELL MADE WORKHORSE OF A REEL'
Strengths:
Well made, strong, nice spools with good line clips, smooth to use, good clutch.
Weaknesses:
Not the best line lay in the world. Quite heavy.
Overall:
A decent well made reel, it's strongly built (Though that means it's not the lightest reel out there). The clutch performs well enough, it casts well, has good aluminium spools and a good line clip. In use the reel feels smooth and well engineered.

The line lay tends to bulk the line towards the top rim of the spool, though it's not a major problem I expected better from a Shimano. That said, it's line lay doesn't impact the use of the reel in any way and is more of a cosmetic concern than anything else.

While I'm satisfied with the reel, I don't think I'd buy another one. It's made of metal so very cold on the hands fishing at winter or at night, and like i said, the line lay niggles me.

'TOP QUALITY ENGINEERING.'
Strengths:
Very smooth running, very precise drag and baitrunner adjustment. Double handle is perfect on both sizes. On the Stratos 7000E the span of the double handle is way too small making for hardwork cranking in big feeders on the Trent, no such issues with the Shimano.
Weaknesses:
Fox Stratos reels have better line lay. Line lay is better on the 5000B than the 6000B for some reason!
Overall:
Have a pair of 5000's and 6000's and don't think I could find better reels.

'GREAT PRODUCT.'
Strengths:
Clutch is very sensitive. Does not require excessive force to engage bale arm. Outstanding rotor balance eleminating any viabration.
Weaknesses:
Dont like the linelay.
Dont like the spool clip.
Overall:
Most satisfactory performance I have ever experienced in 43 years of fishing.

'DISAPOINTING REEL FROM SHIMANO'
Strengths:
Smooth retrieve, drag, baitrunner and looks quite nice
Weaknesses:
Not the best line lay I've ever seen on a reel, which I assumed was just my particular one but having seen 4 of these reels all with the line lay top heavy it is a reel problem with no washers to correct this problem.
Overall:
A good quality reel, which I'm quite happy using and at the price it is not bad value.
The only negative is the line lay which as mentioned above is a shame for what otherwise is a nice looking silky smooth true all rounder of a reel.

'ISSSS NIIIIICE'
Strengths:
-Strength
-Build Quality
-Ball Bearings
-Smooth
-Price!!
Weaknesses:
None i can find
Overall:
Use this reel loaded with 12lb line, and have caught carp upto 27lb, and barbel to 16lb - and the strength and smoothness of the real is fantastic. Used at the same time as the old Aero 5000 GTE (i only have two of the new models - and the old one on the remainding rod!) - the difference in feel is brilliant. Especially noticeable on retreive - the bearings are a great improvement, and so to is the spool strength. Under stress, with the old model you could feel it - whereas with this one, no problem!!
