'THE BEST TENCH ROD '
Strengths:
Light action, with a huge reserve of power, have not found limit.
Weaknesses:
None
Overall:
I`ve got three dating back to the original introduction, (no reel seat) and have had tench to 9Ib 2oz, chub 6Ib, and whilst tench fishing, accidental carp just short of 28Ib. As above, the classic tench rod which cannot be beaten

'A TRULY MODERN CLASSIC'
Strengths:
Just about the best power float fishing rod ever designed. Not only that, a matt finish, a lovely cork handle and down locking Fuji Reel seat.
Weaknesses:
Absolutely none - other than I believe Drennan have taken one of the best rods of it's type ever designed off the market.

Shame on you Drennan!!!
Overall:
I used to own a Mk I Drennan Tench Float that got nicked.

Then I got a Mk III which is the best of the three Marks. It also makes a very good chub and barbel trotting rod.

'THE BEST ALL ROUNDER!'
Strengths:
I bought this for my 'better half' as she is not into changing rods for different types of fishing. This rod gives as much pleasure landing a 4oz roach as it does a 24lb carp!
Weaknesses:
None found as yet. having said that - why are Drennan rod tubes so heavy?!
Overall:
Personally I use a Super Tench which I adore using. The Mk III is just as good if not better! I have no intension of giving up my Super Tench until it dies but I know which rod will replace it!

'A MODERN CLASSIC'
Strengths:
Crisp, light action and a pleasure to float fish for even modest sized specimens using this rod; also reserves of power when you bend into bigger fish. The rod all other 'power float' options aspire to.
Weaknesses:
A screw reel seat would be nice, as would a keeper ring.
Overall:
I've had nothing but good experiences with this rod and have pushed it into service far beyond its normal call of duty. It's seen use as a floater fishing tool for carp; an improvised quivertip rod for barbel and, most often, as the margin float fishing rod it was designed to be! I've had tench to 5lb 9oz on it and carp to 17lb 3oz. It's handled everything I've thrown at it with style. I will always keep a space for one of these classic rods in my bag.
