'HARD TO BEAT'
Strengths:
Where to begin? Balance is superb, smooth running, just oozes quality. The 'toys' mean you can set a tip exactly how you'd like, the fightin drag is ace when you have a good fish on and are giving it some stick, then bottle it. I'd like to comment on the engineering but am not qualified to do so, but it just feels spot on!
Weaknesses:
Some people say the colour is bad but I think its good for the pose/tackle tart factor, I might spray mine royal blue however!
Overall:
Do reels get any better? I don't think so, not the cheapest but then the best never is!sameoldclichetastic.
Funny enough i didnt realise mine was the GTM X, I thought I ordered a bog standard stradic and paid £80 quid for it, happy days!

'ONE OF THE FINEST FIXED SPOOL REELS EVER MADE'
Strengths:
Superbly smooth, built to last. I have one purchased in 1996 when they first came out and it's still perfect. The Fightin' Drag is one of the true innovations in modern fixed spool reel design. As an all round big fish reel the Stradic is truly unbeatable.
Weaknesses:
Shimano, can you make one in black??

Other than that, no weaknesses.
Overall:
Probably the finest all round fixed spoll reel ever designed. A modern Classic

'THE BEST REEL I'VE OWNED...'
Strengths:
Smooth, fast and reliable, a pleasure to fish with and the fighting drag is the best invention for playing big fish under the rod tip - it's saved me from mishaps I'm certain of it.
Weaknesses:
I don't mind the white colour, but the retrieve is just a bit faster than I find necessary. And it's pricey, though I found mine for a discounted £75 which is a bargain for such a great reel.
Overall:
Can't really find fault with this superb reel from a technical perspective. My only gripe would be that given the sudden rise in the number of smooth, ball-bearing laden reels on the market maybe Shimano needs to review it's RRP policy?

'"PROBERBLY THE BEST"'
Strengths:
smooth, to touch, excelent casting, and retrive, you can "FEEL" the fish with this reel.
Weaknesses:
They can over run, and can get you in a tangle,Surprised no other reviewers, has said this as i know other anglers have had the same trouble.
Overall:
Like all shimano reels a joy to use,i'd buy another if i could afford it.

'VERY SMOOTH AND A JOY TO USE.'
Strengths:
Super smooth, The fightin drag
Weaknesses:
The colour!
Overall:
Very impressed with its smoothness but would have prefered a less obvious colour. I think the rrp for it but got it for a very reasonable price so I cant really complain!

'SUPERB REEL'
Strengths:
Fightin drag gives me the option of useing the reel as a baitrunner. Tough and reliable,
Weaknesses:
none
Overall:
A supeb reel, I cant wait to try one of the new Stradic GTM RAs as I have heard that they are even better.

I dont have a problem with the colour, I actualy think it looks good in white.

'THIS REEL IS GREAT.'
Strengths:
Lovely smooth action, like the twin handles, it practically winds itself in.The fighting drag is brilliant, I use it to give me a "baitrunner" option.
Weaknesses:
The colour at first, but it grows on you.
Overall:
A great little reel, mine is the 2500 version which I use on my float rod, would like the 4000 for my feeder rod but there are limits to spending on fishing tackle.
