 | | | Posted: 21/06/08 | | 'EXCELLENT, SENSITIVITY ADJUSTMENT IS SUPERB' | | Strengths: The sensitivity control is excellent for use on windy/still days, or when using a semi-fixed or running rig. The battery life is first class, volume and tone control are fully adjustable, and this combined with good reliability, and the fact that they can be used in heavy rain, and come in a strong protective case make this alarm an excellent buy. | | Weaknesses: None really, but when I use fox swingers, the on-off switch is difficult to access due to the gap between the swinger base and switch being so small. (I suppose I could just switch the alarms on before screwing them to a bankstick, and annoy a few people with an extra beep or two). | | Overall: No complaints whatsoever, I would recommend these wholeheartedly, and if lost or stolen would definitely buy another pair. |

 | | | Posted: 24/08/06 | | 'PROBABLY THE BEST ALARMS IN THE WORLD' | | Strengths: Sensitivity is first class, I free line for tench in the margins, with ultra light weight bobbins and these register the drop backs on a pick up! Ability to increase/decrease the LED illumination on the alarms to daylight conditions. Not affected by rain. You Can buy the illuminated bobbins, upgrade to remote recievers or wired sound boxes to go with it. Nice solid protective cases supplied as standard. Reliability (2 year warranty)and the long established and trusted brand and back up service (if ever required). | | Weaknesses: Now I'm going to be really picky! After using older alarms (optonics), when I use these on a high sensitive setting, a 1" lift can sound like a screaming run! So beware! although you do get used to this. Back panel battery cover as mentioned in previous review. Also at night the double LED's can be a bit too bright (even on the dimmest/lowest setting). I fish close to my rods (reels adjacent my chair) and end up looking down the barrels of the rods. Indicators go off and the brightness of the LED's blinds you (particularly the white one! it illuminates your swim!)and you can't see whether your bobbin has lifted, dropped back etc. To get over this I bought the illuminated bobbins and black taped over the LED's on the alarm. Now the bobbin illuminates on a bite and can be seen easily without blinding. | | Overall: If your thinking of upgrading your alarms, I really don't think you can better these. Ok the initial cost is high, but you get what you pay for. They are sensitive, reliable, great back up service (so i've heard as I've never needed this, but nice to know I can post back to somewhere in England). My previous alarms where the optonics, (made by Delkim)after 20 + years of real use & abuse they still work and are now used weekly by son.
Carlsberg don't do alarms, but if they did, even they couldn't better the Delkim Plus.
