Pros:

Tough and abrasion resitant. Takes a knot really well. I must have caught in excess of 60% of all the fish I have ever caught on this line.

Cons:
Not many, although why do they have to charge nearlly
One of the classic quality reel lines A very reliable line. Nothing wonderful about it but truly a great workhorse.Very overpriced in UK

Cons:

Like any mono: twist

A great heavy duty distance feeder line I've been using 6lb maxima as a heavy duty distance feeder line for 20 years for Tench and Bream. If you're casting over 80 yds you can't beat it.

Had its day! Despite the myths Maxima is not very abrasion resistant. It coils off the spool,is thicker than claimed and is very stretchy. As for invisible in the water,I don't think so!15 years ago this was my favourite line, but that was a long time ago.Try Pro Gold or

Pros:

Reliability. I have used it for years in a variety of breaking strains.
Cons:
Too stretchy compared to more recent products. Retains its memory too well, especially if over 8lb b.s.
Outdated by more recent products There are now many more lines on the market which out-perform Maxima in most departments.I will not be re-spooling with it this year!

Pros:

Scares cormorants.
Cons:
Scares fish. It's highly visible. More spring than zebedee. Bigger diameter than Saturn. Nasty stuff.
Wouldn't even hang my clothes on this line... The days of having to put up with springy, obtrusive lines like this one are well and truly over. It might be cheap, but hey, the war's over now. We can put the ration book away and treat ourselves to something better. I prefer Exage.

just doesn't let you down, has great knot strength irrespective of your preferred knots.

bit stiff, not very low diameter vrs B/S

As reliable as a toyota Compared to all the other so called 'modern' rubbish I've tried over the years this stuff still does what you expect your line to do.If like me you got tired of lines being rated 9.4lb and under best conditions without knots breaking at 6 (cough cough sh

Extreme abrasion resistance and knot strength

Cons:

Poor diameter/strength ratio, a little twisty.

Not as bad as you think I wouldn't recommend this in anything over 8lb but less than that it's good, particularly for beginning anglers. Because of it's knot strength, 8lb can replace 10 or 12lb other line.Surprisingly, I've found it to work quite well as fly leader because of

Pros:

Resistant to kinking, reliable, no significant reduction in strength whatever knot is used, long-lasting
Cons:
A bit too stretchy in the higher breaking strains. Not as easy to find in my local shops as it was ten years ago (which is not a weakness of the line so much as a sad reflection on those tackle dealers who respond to market forces)
Still the best all-round reel line Brilliant reel line for everything except carp and pike at range. I've used nothing else below 10lb bs since the 1980's and I see no reason to change. Shame so many people think it's old hat just because it's been around more than five minutes; it's this

Well past its prime Well past its best before though it is as tough as old boots.Useful for hostage taking

Fantastic stretch, great knot strength, long durability, doesn't kink, recovers fully after being fully strethed, breaks well above it's breaking strain. Great memory. low visability.

The best waggler line around! I use maxima for my feeder fishing and waggler fishing as its a sinking line, Iv'e never had any problems with it, i've always had 100% confidence with it because it's never let me down. I've caught a 12lb carp on a 1pound maxima bottom and the line recov

Pros:

Strong and good knot strength. One of the best lines used when river fishing. Very good for float fishing as well!
Cons:
A little thick on diameter and can be wirey.
Really good line Don't think there's a better line around, espcially when you consider the price. I can't understand some of the bad comments here, I've used Trilene, Korum reel line and a disgraceful Diawa infinity, none of these compare on the river!
