More Rain, More Severe Floods
In the North East of England, the number of Severe Flood Warnings has now risen to 15. Owing to heavy rainfall, the river peaks may be as high as those experienced in recent days. Four Severe Flood Warnings have now been issued in the Durham area. In towns on the River Aire - including Wakefield and Ferrybridge - Environment Agency loud hailer vans have been giving out flood warnings and advice.
In the Kent and Sussex, the number of Severe Flood Warnings stands at 15. In Yalding, which was severely affected by flooding three weeks ago, the river level is expected to peak later tonight. Agency staff are constantly monitoring the situation as levels on the middle and lower reaches of the larger rivers are expected to continue to rise.
