Tommy Bocking’s Alternative Angling Show entails a comedy show, Q & A Forum, Tackle stands, and a Mini Auction. It lasts for three hours and stars stand-up comic Tommy Bocking and top International match angler Ivan Marks.
For over two decades Tommy Bocking has entertained competitors from all over Europe who frequent the popular Angling Festivals in Ireland. His natural ability to ad-lib, when provoked, has resulted in him performing (sometimes naked) Rap to Irish folk music and his favourite ‘Dirty Old Town’ in true Pogues fashion.
Labelled as ‘The Funnyman of Fishing’, Tommy’s caustic wit and rough diamond image goes down well with the predominantly middle-aged male audience. But hecklers beware, the joke will be on you! Tommy is also a very capable angler and has made many friends in the angling world. He comes from Hull and presently lives in Ireland in a small cottage on the banks of a lough.
Ivan Marks will go down in history as one of the most successful anglers England has ever produced. In the days when 1000 people turned out on the Cambridge Fens for a fishing competition Ivan was there, and he won time after time. That was back in the 70’s and 80’s. He is for many the godfather of match fishing and he can still hold his own against the best. One thing that the audience can be guaranteed is a wealth of fishy tails to match no other.
The events should prove to be side-splitting comedy and an evening that embraces the spirit of angling as never experienced before.
