Kirsty Lampey fished Essex Common, a four acre private lake she joined just a few weeks ago and caught a 28lb 8oz mirror.

The lake doesn’t have any notable features so she cast one of her boilies mounted on helicopter rigs to open water and the other to a spot just 5ft from an overhanging tree along her own margin.

Kirsty said, “I had seen fish crashing out in front of me all day right on top of my rods, but I hadn’t had a bite! So, Saturday evening I decided to change my bait and try out some maize. At 6am Sunday morning, I woke up to a screamer on my rod that was cast under the tree and I managed to land a stunning 26lb 8oz mirror!
