Clubmark is a Sport England backed club accreditation scheme, focusing on providing the perfect environment for young people to take part in sport. In order to gain accreditation the club have signed up to both Angling Trust Child Protection and Sports Equity policies, as well as showing an ongoing commitment  to developing and growing the junior section of the club.

The club now has a total of eight fully qualified and CRB checked angling coaches who deliver regular coaching sessions providing opportunities for both new anglers and more experienced anglers to get into the sport. In the past 18 months the club has successfully introduced well over 100 people to angling through their coaching sessions and taster days. One such angler, James Cavendish, has developed greatly since joining the club’s coaching programme just two years ago. James’ development saw him collect four awards at the club’s presentation evening including the most improved angler award.

The club became only the second angling club in Northamptonshire to obtain the award and have cemented their position as one of the leading junior clubs, not only in the county, but also in the East Midlands.

James Roche, Regional Development Officer for the Angling Trust commented:

“It has been a pleasure to work with Brackley & District Angling Club over the past 18 months. The club provides local young people with the chance to try fishing in a safe, friendly and helpful environment, giving anybody that wants to try fishing in Brackley and the surrounding areas the best possible start to the sport.”

Mark Fenning, B&DAC Head Coach & Junior Coordinator said:

“Over the last few years Brackley & District Angling Club has worked hard within the Community, building partnerships with the councils, the EA and other youth groups, to provide the opportunity for everyone to have a go at fishing. Last year saw us put a record amount of people through our taster sessions and structured coaching. In getting this award, which is a Sport England accreditation, shows just how far the Club has progressed. This is why we feel now is the time to launch Brackley & District Angling Academy, we want angling to be available to all, adults and youngsters alike.”
