Artificial Baits for Barbel

Hi All

Has anyone ever had much seccess with using artificial baits for Barbel?

I was mainly thinking of using plastic casters/maggots when feeding with real ones in the low/clear conditions we have at the minute.

Yep..they work..used them on a low Dane last season...excellent as well as the river is full of Maurice the Minnow and his friends.

I agree, but watch out that you don't make the hook too buoyant. 2 Enterprise tackle casters will just about allow a size 14 Drennan Barbel Specialist to sink, 3 will float it.

I just hair rig them by the way.

I've had a few on plastic corn and rubber grubs. I've also had some success with a cocktail of the two.
