Rivers with extra water

I am hoping to get onto the Ribble next week after a lay off due to personal reasons and missing most of my favourite months on the river. With all the rain and extra water what would be the best way to tackle it. I know a long chuck to the far bank would need quite heafty lead or would I be best with a short chuck into the margins?

fish in the margins,on the inside of bends.anywhere where fast water hits slack water(the crease)but if theres only a foot or so on youll get away with your normal line.also as ive mention before upstream ledgering is the way you get less tension on the line, and get dropback bites.
