    Default Fox Royale barbel rods

    Hi
Has anyone used the fox royale barbel rods? I'm in the market for a new budget rod and these look pretty nice in the tackle shop.

I already have a wychwood signature in 1.75 which is ok if a little heavy but I notice they have replaced this model with the solace specialist now! Any opinions would be welcome

    Cheers

Funnily enough I have one right infront of me. Its a nice rod, well made, through action with a stiff ish butt. Quality cork and nice double leg rings.

I think its taken over from the Warrior?

Yeah my understanding was it had taken over from the warrior rods! Have you used yours in anger yet?

Not yet no, looks like a brilliant floater rod too.

I'm still using an old Nash Barbel Elite at the mo.

Lol, funnily enough my wychwood signature gets used as a floater rid too!

I have the 1.5lb multi tip.

Have to agree with Phil, the rod is a little stiffer in the butt than my original Grey's prodigy. All the action really is tip to middle - seems a modern trend.

Been using it a couple of times a week mainly with the supplied quiver, balances nicely with a 4000 size super GT-RA.

I am yet to hit into any barbel but have had chub and bream to 5lb and have found that the rod performs admirably.

I'll be matching it with a shimano st 4000fb but I think I'll be going for the 1.75 over the 1.5

Should balance quite well. Ive strapped a 4000 front drag Exage on mine (older model). Might try one of my 5000 baitrunners too.
