I am currently looking to get a second rod for barbel fishing I currently have the fox duo lite 1.75lb - 2.25lb twin tip rod 12ft, I am happy with the rod and would like to get the the same rod again.

Do I go for the exact same rod or the smaller 11ft version which would give me options on a smaller river or even tighter swims

Or the 2.25lb avon top with various quiver tips.

I mainly fish the wye but would like to be able to use the rods for barbel fishing all over the uk.

Many thanks

I'm no barbel expert but since I bought an 11 footer the 12 footers have stayed firmly in the shed. There's a bit of a vogue atm for shorter rods and I like it....pretty well all my "speccie" type rods are now 10 or 11 footers. Much nicer to use and I can think of many situations where I think a 12 footer would do a better job.

A word of caution. The 11 foot version of the duo lite might feel quite different. ....have a waggle first if you havent already.
