What are your thoughts on the fox 11ft or 12ft horizon x4 I plan to fish our clubs stretch of river that holds a good head of chub it is very snaggy. It's full of twist and turns shallow and deep runs not that wide on a few occasions barbel have been caught. I want an all through action are their alternatives to the fox?.

I'd be more inclined to look at the drennan rods. Unless the river is large and you need to cast long distances with large weights then i'd look at the 11 or 12 ft specialist avons in either 1.25 or 1.5lb test. You get a solid top and a quiver top with those rods.

11ft 1.25lb tc for me,unless big barbel are expected,quiver sections are normally better for chub on baits like cheese paste,bread etc,has to be remembered there isnt as much power with said section,i dont know the rods in question,but Dartford angling centre do their own rods in twin tip 1.2lb tc at a reasonable price,cant believe it would be poor having got their lighter rod...

I have both the rods mentioned the Drennan 12ft specialist twin tip Avon’s and the Darent Valley 11ft Avon twin tip
Out of both rods, I use the Darent Valley more now than the Drennan, my Drennan had become obsolete and just sits in the cupboard

As whitty said you getting a lot of rod for your money with the Darent Valley rods

The X4 seems to be at least 2.75lb test curve - at least, that's all I can see online. I'd go for 1.25 - 1.5tc with a through action.
