I've just checked, and **** Walker's account is on p.157 of Still-Water Angling (my copy is a revised 4th edition, 1975). He concludes it by saying "Peter has always refused firmly to tell me how much he thinks that tench weighed, but I am not so hesitant. I do not think it can have been less than 8lb."
