how do u know when ur weight thing has hit the bottom when using a rod or pole ??

Well, it's only going to take a matter of seconds for a plummet to hit the bottom of even the deepest lake.

With a pole or whip, when you attach a plummet the pole will bend, the pole will straighten out when your plummet hits bottom.

With a rod, line will stop coming off the spool, assuming you are plumbing in still water!

Either way, as Jeremy says, unless you are fishing in 20Ft+ of water, it usually takes a few seconds!
