pike were a winter species but i dont know why ?monk...a rod licence was to keep fish for the table,you could take fish over 10" (roach ,perch .)or i think 12" tench ,bream,throughout the season but after 1st october you could take a certain number over 8",these were what were used for livebait.these laws still apply as far as i know.anyone got an old rod licence as these rules are printed on the back..p.s. old licences are now collecters items.
