.....Why are there such (unnecessarily) short buzz bars on the market? What is their original intended purpose?

They were produced in their thousands for the angling public when the 2-rods/licence change was introduced together with the bye-law changes. Unfortunately there was a misprint on the copy sent to the Tackle Trade which said that the rod-butts should be kept within 3in of each other! ;):eek:mg: Then just start a fad for using them and the sheep will follow - to help clear the overproduction stocks!

I reckon that's a better explanation than we've had so far! And strangely believable too! :D

You do have to wonder why this question was asked by someone who's been on here so long. Why someone would look at this section and their only response is to try to rubbish someone's efforts to help. You don't even know the correct name for the item you're referring to. This illustrates everything bad about fishing. All the greatest anglers have been approachable and passed their knowledge. What did you hope to gain from this?
Please forgive me oh great one, it was intended as a bit of humour.

Gnasher, its obvious you are just trying to help people, but believe me on this forum, all you will get is stupid comments, and contradictions, there is just a clique on here, that if you state an opinion or give advice, will shoot you down,or know better or contradict for the sake of it,ive just about given up trying to give advice to people on this forum,as it just ends up in a slanging match and name calling!!!!..Chefster(Gazza)

Moderation note:

Here on the FishingMagic forums we have, over many years, enjoyed a largely trouble-free environment where points of view can be exchanged and where humour is actually appreciated.

Think of it as your local angling club regular meeting or having a beer with fishing friends in the pub; not everyone will agree with what you say, and (hopefully) your friends and colleagues will will share the craiq.

If however you find the humor or disagreement not to your liking then, as in the example of the pub, the door is there for anyone to step through.

Similarly on any forum you will find that there are groups of long time members who do tend to post on common topics, whether or not that qualifies as a "clique" is not really the point.

More to the point is if you, or anyone else for that matter, are unhappy with the level of moderation then please feel free to complain to the Editor making your case. This you can do from the drop down Contact box in the top headers and by clicking on "Contact the Editor"

As far as my post is concerned I was simply trying to give a notion of how this forum has run successfully for many years in a spirit of fun and fair exchange.

Got to be in the"clique" mate;)

Is there any danger of someone explaining who is or isn't part of the clique?

On a more personal note, I'm at a bit of a loss to your grievances, Chefster. I may have missed it, I don't tend to pay too much attention to the out and out match forum that is likely to be your forte, but I've seen little evidence of your post being questioned any more than anyone else's, including the long established members and frequent posters.

Whether you or I like it or not, forums develop different dynamics. This one has a leaning towards the specialist side of things with a dollop of the allround. Carpers, matchmen and commercials are generally met with a certain level of disdain. On another forum you and I frequent, the bias is more toward the match and commercial side, with a dollop of general coarse angling. There's an even greater level of disdain shown towards carpers.

As someone with leanings towards the specialist and carping side, I often feel about as welcome as a fart in a space suit on there. However, I've no desire to change it, nor do I feel unduly picked on. I definitely won't leave because some don't like the angling disciplines I may practice.

Who's taking the ****?

A couple a questions were asked, which you have yet to answer. Instead you seemed to be getting bogged down by something.

But you may wish to rethink the title of your thread. Something on the lines of "Ask me a fishing question and I'll try to help" might attract more posters.
