Has anyone tried legering for carp with Luncheon Meat? I saw an angler catch a huge mirror carp on it, switched to it and got two monster common carp within twelve hours.

It's a fantastic bait Nick. Cheaply available, easily coloured and flavoured. Improves when frozen, you can fry it to harden and flavour it, frying it for longer makes it float. A very versatile bait, not so good in the winter as the fatty content (the bit that makes it so attractive) tends to coagulate when the water temp drops. If you're catching on it, stay on it....

What sorts of things can you do to it to make it more attractive to Carp? Are there any good ways to flavour it you know of?

It will absorb any flavour, best applied to the lining of a food bag, place the cut/torn meat inside, give a good shake and freeze.
It will absorb the flavour/colour when it thaws.
I think that a flavour would only be required if the original was starting to arouse suspicion.
Any flavour will do, the world is your fragrant oyster.

I know its all a bit 'branded' but trigga spray and nash seafood flavour and nutrabaits strawberry bergamot all worked well for me last season.
Seem to remember freezing with a coating of liquid milasses as well which did the trick.

if you are ledgering and hair riggin it slide a float rubber over your bait needle first. Pass this through the cube of meet slide it all on the hair and put in your hair stop. Make sure the float rubber is inside the meat and this will stop the hair stop ripping through the meat. Your meet with stay on much longer!
