method feeder for barbel

want to try the method for barbel
need advice for what to use on the feeder. i will be using pellet on the hook.
what test line do you barble guys use
i am fishing the ribble it is a good chuck to the far side.
i have some 8 ib braid but have my doubts think it is to light

I use scalded pellet and hemp for my mix.
Line needs to be tough and dependable to withstand the abuse the method (and hopefully the barbel) put on it.
I use thru-action 2lb TC rods and 11lb Sylcast.

I do a fair bit on the Ribble, though I've not yet used the method on there. My usual mix for use in a cage feeder on there is pellets, hemp and canary seed. I use 10lb mono on there. I would be interested to hear if you find the method any more effective on the Ribble than the standard cage feeder.

I shall be visiting a Barbel Society evening in Sheffield next month where Martin Ford will details his way of fishing the Method for barbel. Should be interesting.

I was fishing this way for Small Mouth Yellows (Barbus holubi) way back in 1968.

certainly isn't Ron, most 'modern' techniques are just adapted from old ones, or fined down from sea fishing etc etc
