Muppet's

can any one explian to me why my local match lakes at barford have now banned the muppet method as many disabled anglers find this method a great equaliser as holding a 14m plus pole is not the easiest of things to do for 4 to 5 hours it just seems to be yet another ban.
these fisheries are very good at taking your money but not very good at listening to us anglers we already have to buy their pellets (at high cost) for loose feed just to fatten their fish up but cannot use them on the hook to catch them.
Why not just ban all baits and methods then we can then just feed their fish and bank balance for them.
I am all for fish conservation but i am starting to think that these fisheries are only interested in one thing our money.
I have asked them myself and they just say "some of our match men don't like it"

Paul you will find "the matchmen that dont like it" are the ones who before THE METHOD came along were the ones that were always winning but with the method allowed they dont pickup so often, as the method can as you say be an equliser and they dont like it.
By the way i'm a match angler but tend only to fish venues with no bans as then i'm free to fish how i want.

Paul,i realise your options may be a little limited if you are disabled, but if you dont agree with the fisheries policy feel free to take your hard won pound notes elsewhere. Its surprising how falling attendences and thus revenue tend to get these sort of bans lifted. As Malc said, pick the venues that allow you to fish the methods you want.

On the subject of bans the fishomania final at hayfield lakes allowed the anglers to use the method. How come the day ticket angler cannot also? The rig they used was not a safe rig.

I DONT KNOW WHY THIS FISHERY HAS TAKEN THIS STEP. THE FACT THAT IT ALLOWS AN DISABLED FISHERMAN TO CONTEST,OR OTHERWISE, WITH ANYOTHER PERSON SHOLD BE REASON ENOUGH TO ALLOW IT. AS LONG AS IT WILL NOT HARM THE FISH THEN FINE. HAVE YOU ASKED THE OWNERS WHY ? PERHAPS THE OWNER IS "TO MUCH IN THE GRIP" OF THE PEOPLE THAT BOOK THE PEGS . I HOPE AND THINK THAT THIS ISNT THE CASE . AS AN AVID GIVER OF MONEY TO OTHER PEOPLE AT MATCHES I WOULDNT STAND FOR ANY SUCH RULE. MAKE THE PLAYING FIELD AS LEVEL AS YOU CAN, TO ALL COMMERS, OR THE SPIRIT WILL DIE. CHEERS KEN

well done paul its about time some one said somthing. i am disabled with arthritis useing the muppet rig was perfect for me at 14 mitres. i did speak to the owners at barford thurs, she told me she did not want the fish to feed on top of the water, i thought thats funny carp feed on top in the summer months maybe she ought to tell the fish that, also you cannot lay the pole on the water,i did explain my problem to her and said that i cannot hold the pole for 15 minutes let alone 5 hours.when its windy i cannot hold the poleat all even able bodied anglers have a job, so she said if its windy she will allow us to lay the pole on the water.
the truth is, now this fishery has got established they are doing the same as others they do not want us to catch there fish. for a very long time now anglers have been getting 100s of pounds of fish from there, a hand full of regulars have got together and said we do not like the muppet rig if you do not ban it we wont fish here again and that was it. i told her they had the joice the same as any body else, these people are bloody selfish not a care about any body else, she did say that they were not the reason for the ban, what a lode of fishhooks.so it now looks like i will have some match gear for sale thanks to these so called fellow anglers. they say that women are the weaker sex rubbish the angler is, there has been a lot of moaning about bans on different waters its about time we stood our ground and stayed away from these waters.then they just maybe grateful for our money.
just a short note for the anglers in norwich that griped. please think of those less fortunate than yourselves, before you think of yourselves.

well spoken paul these fisheries have pushed us about for to long. i spoke to the owners of barford lakes on thurs they will not budge on this ban, i explained that i was disabled with arthritis and cannot hold a pole 14 mitres long for 15 minutes let alone 5 hours, her answer was buy a claw to hold your pole, only 15 pounds, good i`ll have four.a blind man from norwich uses the muppet it`s easy for him too and the like, she told me that she did not want the fish feeding on top of the water, funny, i thought thats what carp did in the summer, the problem is anglers are getting 200 pound bags out of these lakes on the muppet and they want to stop it.she told me that a hand full of anglers from norwich said they did not like useing the muppet so it was unfare on them, what a bloody shame, they have the choice of what rig to use, as far as i can see these anglers are bloody selfish and havent thought of those less fortunate than them selves.unless you are disabled it is very hard to explain your problem to any body.so thanks to these landowners my match fishing is slowly coming to an end. mind you i think in a couple of years you will be made to do away with tackle, and lassoo the fish. i have been told of a fishery that has banned smoking, that might be an idea i might give up then.
so come you anglers stick to gether and boycott these waters before it`s to late.
