  1. Onwards and Upwards - Revels Fishery, Thursday 11th September 2014

Following a fantastic start to this current season, I haven't really enjoyed my fishing all that much. I don't know why and I near hate myself for it but, nevertheless, I could not deny it.

Quite often, I'd find myself chatting with Tim, discussing anything and everything, not bothering to put a bait out or trying too hard.

It could well be my fault in fishing the same location too many times and not venturing into new pastures.

    That said, I discussed ...

  2. Beer, barbel and bank climbing blues - River Wye, Herefordshire - 16th-17th June 2014

I don't propose to write out the days' events again but, suffice to say, I hope you enjoyed the feature "Mr Average Goes Large" on the FM website (as much as I enjoyed fishing and writing it).

The session got off to a slow start and it wasn't a long time before the penny dropped. The 10mm's were a shade too big so I stepped back to the usual 6mm approach, with plain spam.

The first fish was an F1 of, as an estimate, around a pound. The first of a shedful of skimmers duly bit, all 7 - 10oz. Not the biggest fish in the world but a ...

  5. One Ton Done - Revels Fishery, Wednesday 7th May 2014

Well, wow, what a day of ups and downs. As I left the sprawl of Poole and headed out into rural South Dorset, the sun was shining and "grockle (tourist) season" was definitely here, stuck behind an old boy and his good lady in a Ford Scorpio, a seriously ugly car but beauty, I guess, is in the eye of the beholder and I'm glad he obviously loved his ancient motor.

Anyway, it didn't matter. It's Dorset, who's in a rush? On went the radio, The Eagles' "Take It Easy" ...
