Fishing near Southampton

I am coming over to the UK for a week and will be based in Southampton. Can anyone tell me what the day ticket access to the Avon/Stour is like now ? I also belive there are a number of tributaries available on a day ticket but I don't have details anymore.
Any info is appreciated.

Philip, when are you coming over and where are you staying?
I'll try and sort out a couple of days with you.
I can arrange any day or guest tickets that you require.
Guest tickets open up a bit more of the river.

Rik, thanks for the offer, I am leaving tomorrow so it is probably too short notice to try and sort out a guest ticket, plus I am staying with my girlfriend so its a bit of a covert operation ....a case of grabbing a day when I can rather than trying to plan it out.."YOUR NOT GOING FISHING AGAIN!!!"
(-; I felt like having a crack after some Chub, travelling light and doing a bit of roving around. Can you recommend any stretches on a day ticket?

If you want unlimited roving for good sized fish, then Throop is probably your best bet. I'll be crossing it in about an hour on my way to work, I'll take a look at the state of it as it's rained quite a bit in the last few days, but the river does run off quickly.

The Hants Avon is to the top of it's banks, but the Stour is still OK.
It's running thru' abit and it's very coloured.
Providing it doesn't hammer it down it should be perfect as the river does run off quickly.

Had a look this morning on my way home and it looks great.
If you can fish friday or saturday you should be able to get the best out of it.

Fantastic...live water reports! ...most cool of you. I leave this evening but I doubt I will be granted "leave" until Sunday or Monday. Throop sounds good I read a report ages ago that they where thinking of turning it syndicate, but obviously it did not happen. Thanks again. I will let you know how I get on, If you ever fancy a bash after some Frenchy Carp let me know.
