PUBLICITY: GOOD OR BAD.

I am fishing a club lake in Hampshire,(or oxfordshire if you believe what you read in Carptalk) which has been/is being fished,by certain high/ish profile anglers. These people are tying up swims,or trying to, for weeks on end, using amounts of bait that the lake has never seen and using methods and tactics ranging from dodgy to downright illegal. What do you other contributors think about this? p.s. if any one thinks this is sour grapes, the reason i am asking is i have just returned from there with photos of a forty and thirty eight brace. would you publicise them? Comments from "Moreys" anglers appreciated.

Hi Dave,
Having fished that lake for 3 or 4 years until about 5 years ago, I am aware of some of the fish that are in there.
These Yateley type anglers are only seeking self glorification or they wouldn't come down and tie up half the lake seeking out the big fish on the back of other peoples hard work.
They have also poached the lake across the road, which is now closed.
Why they are trying to throw everyone a blind is beyond me.
They've got some good fishing because of someone elses hard work, but don't want others to share in it.
Keep it to yourself, or if you're that way inclined, throw them a curve ball yourself.

Sour grapes? No, I've moved on and wouldn't go back now, not with the situation as it is.

I'll stick with my unknown, underfished pit, which we'll probably be having the same conversation about in 5 or 6 years time.

I may have mislead you,it's not "moreys",i wish. It is a 125 acre lake over the road with limited access to bank. The thing that really annoys me is that info is being bought with bait or tackle from people who only know this info by nicking it from those who have put in an awsome amount of work and are now being shafted, for want of a better word, by team'ed up "anglers"(quotation marks deliberate". If English forties are that important they should go back to poaching SSSI's. Sorry to sound so angry but there is little left for the average club angler to chase without losing your own waters to the "Fish are articles:are sales:are money."brigade.
Soap box is now vacant.Sorry

you go up the side road,
you have the original club lake on your right,
you then come to the linited bank space lake entrance on your left, which was being poached by "famous anglers" and then you have the stitched up lake at the top on the right.

The lake on the left is still fishable to those who are lucky enough to either be mates of the committee or friends of tackle shop employees.
(See last years reason for CAC taking their forum off the 'net because they didn't want to answer questions about limited fishing to certain members)

The lake at the top right has produced some sizeable fish this year, but it is totally stitched up by 'teams'

I assume these are the lakes you are talking about.....
(you're up late!!!!)

sorry i have not been back to you, family calls.
you are right, but the lake on the right is not being dominated by teams any more. It seems it is to HARD FOR THEM. some friends caught this weekend but nothing to rock the world but ENGLISH and unreported which is nice.
the lake for those with friends is still the same,no "rumours" but most things with fins have a new home,(if you know what i mean), see oxfordshire gravel pit for details.Would love to see this week ends photos with Hants labels, but don't think it's going to happen.
KEEP IT REAL.(ish)

The lake which the fish are being removed from, is all legal and above board (apparently with EA consent)to move them into the other lakes because the fishing is ceasing on this one.

Any truth in the rumour about a VERY large one being caught?

You could say its from a Dorset gravel pit............

I know it's legal to move them but you are not allowed to fish the lake!! So we are back to fish with wings are we not?
As for the "rumours" of a "large fish" being caught from S............"(nearly gave it away). YES Your'e right. It was caught about 2 weeks ago and now resides in a lake you have fished and is available on a club/day ticket to any one and would walk any competition based on merit of fish or english'ness.(If that last word make's any sense)

I think we had best keep this conversation private or I might find my motor in flames next time I'm out.
