Gypsy Dave - Big Fat, stocked Rainbows, 'wallow' when hooked, very little fight no long runs, little stamina its like comparing me with a fresh run salmon or an Olympic athlete! Please realise my experience of modern 'big Carp' is very limited so you may indeed have a different opinion. What was your rod reel line’ leader' setup? Any tips on keeping the 'beasties' away from snags.
Craig - I think that was me, or at least I had some input to the thread, but thanks anyway for the pointer. I hope I could do the same for you some day.
Carp Angler - Spot on, exactly what I wanted.
It appears that I can get fish 'up' by loose feeding mixers etc, I now intend to deceive 'em with artificial naturals and as your post indicates a 'daddy long legs' has got to be a first line of attack. It will be very interesting to see the fishes reaction to a big floppy natural even though it will be 'attached' to a hook & trail nylon / fluorocarbon etc. Incidentally I have built up a gallery of large Bream caught fairly on the fly (green buzzer) in the last 3-4 years, this years best???? No scales but I have pics, estimate, I would not like to say but Grahams latest is probably bigger.
Fortunately, casting will be limited or be 'bow & arrow' style but I hope to further apply the knowledge gained
Regards & thanks to all
