Can anyone e-mail me a supplier for Robin Red..?

On the ethical side, does anyone have misgivings about it, or is it now generally accepted among the carping fraternity..?

I'm a piker who wants to use it for a pre-baiting trial.

Chris, Nutrabaits do a 300g tub for between 5 and 6 pounds. "Carp Angler" may be in a better position than me to comment on the ethical side but I think its generally accepted as a great additive amoungst carpers.

Cheers mate - I was astonished the first time I read about it but then again I'll admit you could write what I know about carp fishing on the back of your average postage stamp.

Robin Red , like many of the Bird Foods that have been used for many years in carp baits, originates with Haiths Birdfoods.

They sell direct by mail order and should be cheaper than adding on someone elses profit. Many other ingredients of theirs are worth a look. Check out some of Rod Hutchinson's old books for recipes using their ingredients.

I get mine from Quality Baits - far cheaper than Nutrabaits, btw.

Like most boilie additives, this one originated from another pet supplier, and like most bird additives its a seed and biscuit base. Robin Red is coloured with caraphyll, the bit that enhances the birds red plummage (and colours the carps belly), it is a spicy type additive and does not harm the fish. It, like most seed baits, contains natural fats which are of benefit to the carp. From my own experiences I have found that 3oz of a 16oz mix to be the optimum inclusion. If you are adding it to a 50/50 or economy mix (carbohydrate based) I would suggest that you up that to 6oz of a 16oz mix.
Where did you get the idea from Chris? You say that you know nothing about bait but want to use it for a prebaiting trial. I'm not having a go, just curious where you got the train of thought from.
Any probs with the inclusions or if you want a recipe then come back to me.
