Peta again I know, its been done to death!

Well this one hasn’t!
On Friday the 3/8/01 The Manchester Evening News carried a pro Peta article, the author was Andrew Grimes.
In his pernicious piece he states in relation to the dog and hook poster and fish feeling pain-

“ Zoologically it is a fair question. There have been quite recent scientific tests carried out on fish to find out if they feel pain, and the unsurprising and worrying answer is yes, they definitely do. Many angler know this instinctively, which is why they keep a priest in their kitbox. Its not usual kind of priest – no point in saying the last rights over a dying perch. This priest is a little wooden hammer to put the gasping fish out of its misery.”
“For this reason, I’m inclined to agree with Carr that an angler who unhooks and throws it back in the water, probable to be caught three or four times again, is committing unnecessary cruelty, whether he intends to or not.”

He then goes on to attempt to add balance by stating Equally barmy is her campaign to outlaw the world’s fishing industry, after pointing out that she is a vegan.

Now these so called scientific tests he referrers to, where did he get this info from? I can not say at the moment but can make an educated guess - Peta’s press release, I bet.

I’ll quiz him some time today about it, that for sure!

The tests they quote, were done by passing an electric current through the fish, if memory serves me right, and checking whether there was a response.
Anything that gets an electric current passed thought it, will have a muscle reaction. That frankly proves jack shit, other that the body reacts to electrical stimulus.

Once again the silly season seems to have started and this year it appears that angling is to be the target. Such a move was rather inevitable once the hunting issue has apparently been dealt with.

It is a sad fact that there is a whole industry that been built up around animal ‘banitittis’ with significant numbers of people having built their reputations up on the backs of these campaigns and who are making a very good living out of it.

So lets get real these people are not going to give up their large salaries just because hunting looks doomed in this country at least.

There are several of these groups the primary protagonist at the moment appears to be Peta who are a shadowy bunch of vegan fascists who have proven to be highly skilled at parting neurotic actresses and popstars from their money and have as a result amassed a reasonable fortune. They are also highly litigious notably they are not a charity they are in fact registered as a business and doubtless their senior employees are drawing corporate salaries.

Thankfully in the case of Peta this group contains within their pronouncements the seeds of their own destruction
This group openly supports Violence and a visit to their website shows that they are open backers of the ALA and ALF these cuddly terrorists who make and deliver bombs that are sent to maim and kill innocent people. Children have been injured by the mail bombs sent out by animal rights terrorists. The most recent example is the 6 year old who was injured in a mail bomb attack a few months ago here in the North west.
Peta states they would force people to give up their pets. That's right your dog ,cat horse fish. Ask the question ‘Do we want a society run by Vegan fascists who would kick your door in to see if you have a pet cat in the house’?.

Peta recently stated that they that they would like to see Foot and Mouth disease imported into the USA to ‘punish farmers’ there.

What kind of minds do these people have? For all their attempts at putting on a cuddly front by using attractive young women to try to put over their anti angling message they are anything but nice people the kind of world that they wish to dominate by force and terror is not one that I would wish to live in nor do I suspect would most animals .....Those that are left that is.

They are skilled propagandists and will stop at nothing including the use of wholly fictitious 'Scientific' evidence to try and sway public opinion it is time that this organisation is shown up for what it is.

An update on this post is that I phoned the MEN to speak with Grimes. I was told that he is a freelancer and not available. I did however, get to speak with the Dep. Ed., who frankly didn’t like the tables turning on him.

He could not say whether Grimes had actually read the so-called “scientific evidence,” or where he’d got his info from. So when I asked him that as Dep. Ed he’d not verified his journalist sources and was that responsible journalistic/editorial integrate? He got somewhat defensive, and said that, “Grimes writes his opinion and we print it to get a reaction from the readers.”

The implication of this is that the MEN will print lies and distortions by their journalists against a mass group, irrespective of the truth or validity of that story.

RESPONSIBLE JOURNALISTIC INTEGRATE WHAT’S THAT!

He went on to say, in response to anglers having the right of reply (no guarantees given) that there is the Post Bag and on Mondays they have a slot for people to write their own stories and responses to issue that are of wider concern to society. This slot is for 800 words, and I am progressing this through the SAA and NAA.

The bottom line though, is they make the decision on what goes in. The only way we are going to get that in is by putting the pressure on them to get it in!

So if they get hundreds of e-mails demanding the right of reply to Gimmy Grimes pernicious piece, then we’re more likely to get it in.

Please keep the e-mails going. You know it makes sense!

This is the very reason I have tried to impress upon everybody to get in there first. Just tell the world what PETA are really about. There is my letter in the article section and now we have Alan's letter; take your pick but please send a letter.
