You can usually identify Roach x Bream hybrids by counting the anal fin rays which will normally be in the range 15-19.

They ARE Roach once they get over 3lb... Roach x Bream die before that...

Not like that Nasty Bass X Daddy Ruffe Paul is holding up.. ;-)

))) lol!!!
Dave Cooper and myself were on the Teme last week doing a bit of fish spotting prior to fishing, when we spotted a lonesome bream that thought itself a barbel!!....it was certainly feeding with them, it even moved acoss the current like them!!

In the river Lune the roach/bream hybrids at present are running between 4.5lb and 5.5lb. Excellent fighters, they’re not as colourful as the roach and much lighter than the bream and with a slightly less pronounced hump. I’ve got a few pictures somewhere if anyone wants to know what a 4.5lb roach/bream hybrid looks like. However, I don’t thick the picture's good enough to count the spines. I really need to get my act together on the photo front.

Sorry about the double posting lads but the web page crashed out on me and I wasn’t sure if my posting had gone. The nets getting very slow at work, dinner time that is!!!! We’re supposed to be getting some new severs which should speed up the system. Knowing our company however it’s highly likely that the system wont work at all for the next few months!
