still method feeder with either meat or corn as hookbait Ian.
went last week and it was slow although managed a '16'-but that was after struggling all day and doing a bit of stalking inches from the bank....

Thanks a lot Dave i'll give both a try and see what comes up, i'll let you know the outcome could do with a good day instead of tiddler bashin'

Ian - try flavouring your meat with Strawberry & try the red strawberry flavoured corn - seems to work well over other flavours, loose feed trout pellets or the pellets that Jamie sells in the clubhouse.

i only ever used two baits at baden Hall

bread & gram madras curried meat.

Then again i stopped going when they decided to stock barbel in their pools :(

Are you on about the lake that has been redesigned and stoked with little fish? The people i have seen do well up there are on maggot and lots of them. Only fished the match lake once to catch a mini barbel.

Apparently the donut if fishing well for little carp.

If you look at my pic you'll see i'm holding a 10lb carp' that came out of the dounught pool last year.

It was caught on floating bread & the other blokes fishing it had told me bread was no good!!! (give you three guesses who had a few people asking for some bread after that)

Alan do you fish baden often? I didnt know the carp went that big in the donut. Have you fished the big pool or the duck pond?

The duck pond - now theres a challenge. I've fished it several times and had some good fish out but is it hard or what ?

Could only score with natural baits, very little loose feed - corn takes a few tench & air injected bunches of lob and maggots glued to a cork ball seem to take the better carp.

Had no joy on floaters - the carp seem to be very spooky. I hear from the farm workers who fish it now and again that there are some upper 20's in there .... haven't seen them but have seen some upper doubles (had a 16 earlier this year)

Paul, baden is my favorite water as i think it has everything. The bloody duck pond though is total mystery to me, fished it last year and had 2 mini tench, and one day i was fishing the big pool and this kid came down and told me it was fishing well so after he went (As i was catching nowt and even had a run off a gudeon) i thought i'd move and wow? One of the best days i had this year using 4lb straight through to an 18 with corn it was a fish a cast. Tench from 6oz to 2lb, carp from 1lb and even one about 13lb. But the next sunday not even a bite....... Moved to the big pond and bagged up.

The thing i like about baden is that its big and every one buggers about 4pm leaving you almost alone after that.

Anybody fancy a fishin at baden?

I was told the carp in the doughnut pool only went to 8lb but according to my scales (& the wifes set) the one in my pic was a 10lber.

Sorry mate but i'll never fish baden hall again as long as i live due to a remark made by one of the hired hands.

On the day i found out they stocked barbel i asked him if he thought it was cruel?
His reply...."who gives a toss they're only f**kin fish" to say i was mad is an understatement!!!!!!!!!

Even Dian (my wife) didn't ty to stop the barrage the pr*ck got from me (which she would normally try to do)

at the end of the day Alan-fish are fish......
my personal views are that I dont like barbel in pools-I've caught em there but I'd rather see em in the river.

we've done this one a time or two and everyone one knows who stands where with this.-its just one of those things I'm afraid....woe the day a 20lb fish comes from a gravel pit eh? or Makins......

now chub....thats something else.....

cos they can reproduce and adapt Steve.

I' would rather fish a rive r any day , but there are times during lean spells when I just want to see the float bury.....on a commercial as they do have there benefits.
chub will thrive in stillwaters as all anglers know-not just commercials-Im yet to hear of barbel doing quite so well in stillwaters

I caught a few chub from the match pool at heron brook and they were manky! They had fin rot and they were very slimey, this sort of put me of catching them untill i caught another at another water which was very healthy and fought like mad.

What does eveyone think of tench in rivers? Good or Bad?
