I'm going down to S.Africa next week fishing for Tiger Fish and other species in an area called Maputaland - North Eastern Kwazulu Natal - near lake Jozini.

Has anyone been down here and fished, or has anyone ever fished for Tigers on fly or conventional - if so any tips, hints or advice would be most welcome.

Thanks

Dexter wedges fitted with a large single, barbless hook....and a wire trace of course!!.

Also "cut bait" fished under a float seemed to do the damage.

Watch those teeth though!

Weight 10 -9 foot rod, no longer. 20 lb leader with 8 inch 20 lb wire. Large disc drag reel. The Large Arbour Dragonfly should be OK. Slow sinking and floating lines.

Try to get some of the "Tigger" flies devised by my old mate Bill Steele of Joburg.

Locating Tigers. Look for crocs and hippos. Don't fish from the shore use a boat.

October is best time of the year.
