is there a wireless remote reciever/ sounder box availiable for the fox micron mx bite alarms. as i am quite social aroun dmy lake and sometimes wonder into the next swim to have a natter with the next angler and sometimes i cannot hear my alarms. I dont have them on full volume because i feel it disturbrs other anglers many thanks

Try the ATTX Transmitter system, I've not used it but I believe it works with most alarms. I know it's available from specialist tackle but you can probably get it elsewhere. It's not cheap though. I wouldn't suggest you wander to far away from your rods though anyway as apart from breaking EA rules (I think you aren't meant to be more than about 20 yards from your rods), I think it's a risky game being far enough away that you can't see your indicators or hit a run as soon as it develops particularly if there are snags present.

Is it me or are there an increasing amount of questions relating to dubious 'angling' practises (eg fish handling, walking away from rods) being posted on this site?

Are the posters actual anglers or are the posts designed to bring about a response that could be used in other "anti" areas?

bynasty, i realise what you are saying and the swims on the lake i fish are literaly 10 yards away with no cover between them! And just for the record i would never walk away from my rods if there was a chance of a fish snagging on a feature!!!!!!. thanks for the advice on the transmitter has anyone got any reviews on this? i will ask my local dealer about it ! many thanks

Sash, can you post a few links to the other dubious angling practises posts and then I can run a few checks.

Graham,

Can't find the other threads but one (in the General forum I think) promoted leaving a fish out of water for a few minutes until it calms down to allow easy unhooking and there have been a number of references re alarms being loud enough to hear should one get drunk. Obviously some have been made in jest (poorly) but others haven't.

Probably just me being paranoid but it does happen on other sites. Will let you know when I see another one.

Fair point Sash. I would like to say I would never endorse these poor practices. I think some people are genuinely ignorant to the fact that they are doing anything wrong and I would rather attempt to give them some guidance by resonding. Others just don't care but at least by trying to argue the point they may eventually see the errors of their ways. I've fished lakes like alex's and I must admit I've wandered accross to talk to the person in the next peg but I always keep watching my indicators and listening out and any movement or single blips see me back and hovering over them instantly. I am sure Alex is doing the same.

It wasn't Alex I was having a go at particularly. He at least posted again and explained his actions whereas other thread starters haven't which makes even more suspicous.

I know about the ones you mention Sash and they're not what they seem (one genuine and others in jest). But please let me know (anybody) if you spot any posts that could be suss.

Will do Graham. By the way, excellent bit on slack lines in CF this month. Cleared up some of the confusion I was getting when Stu was explaining it to me.

again for the record i do always watch my indicators but with a reciever it's easier and any sign of a bite as you say bynasty i am eagerly hovering over my rods with abticipation. (not that it comes to much alot of the time lol)
