Ive used esp raptor G4s before and korda longshanks and ive not really been pleased with either. Used raptors in france last year and had a hook straighten and used kordas last sunday on a 24hr session and had a few hook pulls. Not blaming the hooks, just wanna know the best hooks to use in france this year which other anglers have got confidence in. At the moment im looking at the gardner mugga hooks as ive heard a few good things about them. Also gonna be using two tigers,18-20mm boilies and cubes of cheese, would the best size hook be a size 8?

Thanks

i've used both and was happy with them, very hard to get out my finger in the middle of the night, had no problems... then again had no fish ;).

im thinking size 8, would that be ok?

I have been using the old style Mustad Barbless Method feeder hooks size 8 which look like the size of 6s or 4s.

Worked well for me

kamasan b 725 carp specialist cost a fair bit but they're brilliant been using them for a few months months now and have had no real problems!
the only slight promblem is they're barbed (i didnt relise when i bought them) but i just flattened the barb with some pliers n it worked a treat! next time i buy a pack i will look for a barbless version but if they dont do one i would buy them anyway n flatten the barb again!
i think they do them in sizes 4-10 ive only used the 10's an like i said they're brilliant!

Agree with Kamassan B725 but also strongly recommend the carp-r-us long shanks.

Tigers, i'd got for a size six. Its not about how high you stack the bait that makes you want to chose a bigger hook, its how wide the overal bait is if this makes sense?

Kamasan B725 in barbless, been using them extensivly this season, and havn't lost a fish due to hooking problems. I do find, sometimes however, that hair length, relative to hook selection can play a big part in missed bites, or should i say, "dropped runs"
