The old fashioned Rod Hutchinson carp hook for bottom baits and pop ups.The Partridge Jack Hilton for surface baits and the Owner(OOW or OWW,something like that cant remember without going out to the workshop!!)for hit and hold situations. Not very modern or adventurous I am afraid but tried and tested.

Rooky,
do you not think the F** series 5, which is a copy of the Partridge Piggy Back bent hook, a very dodgy hook?
My first and only use of these resulted in a fish being double hooked.

Drennen Super Specalist for me to. You can be super critical when inspecting your hook point, and can change to a fresh hook without having to phone the bank manager. Used them for years, and have never had one let me down. Not a trendy hook choice, but a good work horse, that has lasted the test of time.

Super Specialists for me too! I have used the Eustace Penatrator range when fish for those Dutch imports in Catch 22 in Norfolf as the super specialists tended to tear. The owner Cutting point was also usefull here. But otherwise, Drennan gets my vote!

Fox 2B, Nash Fang, Drennan SS - dependant upon what I am fishing for, and where.

I have tried a few and have to say on modern (hair)rigs they all blunt so easily, sometimes just one retrival over a hard bottom!....i agree with the thread that said Drennan super specialist, you don't think twice how much they are you just change them!! and i can honestly say that they are agood hook.

Got to say I don't much care for the Super Specialists. Too heavy for a good hair rig I reckon; too thick in the wire.

I like Gold Label Penetrators best.

Ashima 'Indespensible Carp'.....can't remember the model number.....

I have used them for ages now, but am finding them increasingly difficult to get hold of. Funnily enough a tackle dealer told me they are exactly the same hook as the Gold Label 'Penetrator One' hooks that Graham uses (same factory different pakage). Only they cost ?2.50 instead of ?3.99 I have looked closely and can't see a difference.

I have had some big fish on hit and hold tactics with these hooks and they have never let me down.

Graham, i have to agree they are a little heavy in the wire, but they have served me well.
Gary, i remember having used some of those too, i haven't seen any for ages i'll ask about down here, it could be that they are getting scarcer because Gold label are marketing them all? in fact it may well have been Terry's old shop where i had them from.

I almost always use the ESP hooks now - Raptors G4 (?) and lately mostly their stiff riggers.

Drennan continental boilie hooks and star points for standard carp fishing.

Had a few hook pulls when I switched over to Technium as mainline so now use penertrator 3's. Evil things to look at but bloody sharp and never let go.

Mike,do you think the hook pulls were due to the reduced stretch? this isnt ment to be a smart mouthed reply but an honest question

After talking with Mike I think it was.
Although personally, I've found Continentals to be superb in hit and hold, and I've found Penetrators to skid too much.

My personal faves at the mo are Nash Gata's, very strong and unbelievably sharp.
I had a butchers at the ESP stuff and its just rebadged Drennan boilie hooks and Kamasan B175's.
Although the B175's are about one tenth of the price of the ESP ones.
