Ron, I work 2mins from lake and would suggest fishing on the lefthand side from the car park, past the island you see in front of you, I've had success with fish upto 16lbs from this side. try fruit flavoured baits

Just got back from a 24 hr coaching session. The client landed 24 carp to 18lb 11oz and lost three fish. <img title="Click image to view full size." src="http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f396/skodavRS/IMG_1466.jpg" width="350" height="233" />We fished next to the Sandy bankswim and emptied the lake when alla round were blanking

Rob location is the key to all carp fishing. The carp in Thorpe Lea seem to come from two quite distinct areas of the lake when its cold. The first is the first swim after the island on the M25 bank. You cant miss it as it has a long wodden platform and the island is almost strait in front of you. Cast parrallel to the island about 75-90 yards out.

The other good spot is on the oppostite bank a swim called the beech you cant miss it as it is a sandy beech two swims long this time cast strait out in front 60-90 yards to a shallow 2' deep bar.

Baits small and bright HBS day trippers or Dynamite new Prawn baits in 10mmSmall hooks Korda size 12 longshanks orwide gape with a little PVA bag of little pellets or a stick mix of Tuna in oil crushed hemp, 2MM pellets and Marmite plus a little Special G ground bait.

If I am using PVA bags I would fish a running rig however if I was casting to range I would opt for a helicopter rig like this
IMG_1358-1.jpg

Dont sit still keep casting your rig out every 20-30 mins if you see a fish show and you can reach it cast to it.

When you have found the carpyou could well end up with this happening

hi mate, just got back from there this evening, had 24 hours down there. pretty busy but get down there for 7.30/8.00, when the baliffs come round around 8.00 some people will leave. managed to get a tight swim on the m25 bank. 6 fish averaging around 17lb, best just over 20. 4 from over the gravel bar down the middle and a couple from close margins. They're not going for normal boilies, dumbells tipped with plastic corn worked when i changed from mini boilies. tight lines, let us know how you got on - i didn't want to leave to be fair!
