Hi guy's,

Recently got my hands on a couple Fox Warrior XT's test curve is 2.75lb and i believe it has a 12lb line on it. Wanted to know what lead's you guys would recommend? Was recently using a 3.5oz and then changed to a 3oz but noticed there was way too much bend in the top 2/3 sections. Going to try with a 2oz and 2.5oz. Ideally want to be casting 80+ yards.

Or, if anyone could recommend a set up to go with the road, that'll be amazing.

Most rods will struggle to cast 3 pound leads??????

With those rods you should be able to cast 80 yards with 2 to 3 OUNCE leads.

Simple lead clip set up or helicopter rigs is all you need.

They should handle a 3oz lead.

A very simple setup would be a lead clip with a swivel pulled tight into one end and your hooklink tied to that. The lead hangs on the clip and is trapped by a tapered rubber sleeve (a tail or tadpole rubber) which goes on the other end of the clip. Wet it before you push it on and dont force it on too hard....the idea being that in the event of a line break a tethered fish should be able to pull the tail rubber and lead off the clip.

The hooklink can be a bit of your 12lb mainline knotless knotted to a good strong size 6 hook and use the tag end for your hair. You can add some anti tangle tubing a bit longer than your hooklink behind the lead clip & pushed into the tail rubber to hold it in place if you feel the need but its not really essential.

Bait up with a bolie of your choosing, add a stringer with a few more bolies on a bit of PVA hung off your hook and away you go.

Of course its also fun to play around with more fancy rigs as well but that will catch Carp anywhere.

For a rod to cast optimum distances, the lead must be heavy enough to compress the top 2/3 when used in anger.

A 3oz lead should easily hit 80 metres with those rods assuming you have decent line.
