I think that Fox are still marketing their Floater Rod:

"Fox Controller Rod - 12ft 2.25lb

The Controller rod has been developed specifically for surface fishing.

The 12ft 2.25lb test curve blank has been designed for heavier styles of surface fishing at longer distances with bigger floats or lakes with heavier weed growth."

I use an old Browning 3 piece 13' 2.25lb t/c which gives me a slightly better line pick-up than the 12' version.

Otherwise, I think most anglers simply use one of their bottom rods.

Hope this helps.

There are specialist rods but I don't find them worth it in the long run. If your bottom rods have a 2.25lb+ TC then they should be able to handle "bigger floats". Can be a pain changing your gear over on them though and then the fish have buggered off.

You seem to be splashing out on a fair bit of gear atm sonny... run into any 'rich-quick' schemes i should kno about /forum/smilies/wink_smiley.gif, certainly ccould use the money?

A number, of companies market specialist floater rods, such as ESP (Drennan) Fox and JRC. These retail for about ?50 -60 a piece. If you are after a floater rods, for munters and have loads to spend then the ESP Terry Hearn Mk 1 2lb 9oz are worth finding, as their mellow action protects light hooklinks, but has plenty of power lower down, but be prepared to pay the price (?120 - ?150 ish)
