Slight Smile, Wendy.
Size is the difference. Mine's a big one. If they cant get it all in, in one go, they have to nibble at it till it fits!
As they say, ''Size Matters''.

Nice to hear from our resident 'hippie', hope you are back to your best now, chuck?

John, my pleasure.
I use braid (fireline) no memory so it doesn't kink. Plus it floats well and lifts off the water easily, a very efficient duck scarer that doesn't harm them.
Doesn't spin up either, as the bread skims on retrieve if you want to recast to a rising fish.
And yes, it works well in the dark.

Happy days, John. Clive.

Cakey,
you'll get your fingers messy trying to push your limp string up the middle ....
....or is that normally the case for you?

my wife put a viagra pill in my shoe to make me limp ! !

I was talking about spreading jam on the slice of bread before rolling it.

That's the trouble with carp anglers isn't it.

Why keep something simple when you can complicate it?)

Couldn't of said it any better John if I tried! Us carp anglers like to confuse ourselves and in turn allow the markets to be flooded with more crap to confuse us more - thats what we like! :)

I missed this thread origionally but I must say i'm looking forward to trying the method out. Reminds me of the floating candle rig which works well for carp only it's cheaper as you don't need the maggots.

For extreme range roll fishing I use the rig with a Tesco Yule Log as my controller - camo stylee - a hook in each - doubles the chances.......

I'd suggest a switch to un pain rustique / baguette if your carp are from dubious origins or if the biggie in your lake is called 'The Italian' then it has to be a Ciabatta.

Brilliant idea Rob, I wish I'd thought of that!
And recently there was some mention of ''nutty loaf''. Wonder how many of us should be using that?
Stuart, what 's the world coming to, I find myself agreeing with your thoughts. Actually AGREEING!!
Gobsmacked, Clive.

Ha, since when have you been good enough to class yourself as a carper?
You need to buy some carp rods first.

Clive,
it must be time for a lie down, perhapse too much adrenalin from the 'new season syndrome' but you must take care when agreeing with Stuart, he doesn't expect it and for it to apear there in the forum can give the big man palpatations.

This has been a forum health promotion, we will now return to our regular bitching. ;o}~

Rodney,
You're right mate.
My apologies to Stuart (or as I now think of him, 'Zebedee'), the coiled spring of ''FishingMagic Roundabout''.
Lie down?. I daren't even close my eyes for fear of seeing tumbling fish.

Cakey,
Jam, peanut butter, treacle, paste, cheese-spread, even custard. Been there, done that. Please send old shoes and contents, ASAP.

The bread rig has caused much abuse,
Over whether its quite safe to use,
Bread wrapped up in line
Has caused many a whine,
The whole issue is set to confuse!

To bait the exposed hook or not?
I really do not give a jot,
The best way to decide:
Fish it from the lake side,
And sort out what problems its got!!

Thank you Rodney, (takes a modest bow).
But will Robin approve? I'd like to know what he thinks I've been doing the last ten years. Not sleeping off boredom! Tweaking it into shape is what. It certainly didn't start off as efficient as it is now.

Tony, nice one, I like it. Exactly my attitude 10 years ago. A good piece of advice that others would profit by.

Rodney,
perhaps we can take this a bit further.
I vote Cakey for 'Dylan' cos he seems laid back to me.
And Graham 'mother hen' McWallet is perfect for 'Florence'.
But who do we have for scatter-brained 'Dougal'. Over to you I think.
