Carp lads,

If you were using only maggots as hook bait and feed (in a stick etc).

Would you add a flavour, or keep em natural.

If flavours, would pinapple be a decent bet if no one else were using it?

big thanks, Deanos.

Has anyone been chucking old pineapples into your lake for the carp to know the difference?

Seriously, last time I used maggots I flavoured them with some pineapple stuff (PVA friendly). NOT A BITE! NOWT, ZILCH, B****R ALL!

But you try.

After many many years of trying i still cant answer that one truthfully..........but pineapple is one of my fav flavours, but i would advise using it very very frugally..........my other fav is tumeric,

why mess with them, carp cant resist them anyway.

can't think of anything worse, ruining a perfectly good bait with a load of chemicals - if you really felt the need, then use a spice like Paul says.

Frothy, you may well be surprised that as the FM joker, I do actually listen to advice, big thanks.

I have got myself a whole new bunch of waters to fish this year, dead excited.

One last question Mr Frothy.
Every year, more n more baits, mountains of boilies.
Trigga always worked well for me, caught plenty of carp, chub n barbel on it, is still as good (or better) than anything out there, or does it come down to confidence and personnel preferences?

Regards and thanks to all, Deanos.

Stick with Trigga - every "which boilie" question will have a thousand different answers, the real answer being that they all work if you stick it in the right place. Trigga's one of the better one's out there.

A mix of shelf life and freezer is better than just freezer baits if you listen to Ken Townley and Bill Cottam - and they should know!

There is a "liquid maggot" flavour - I've got some at home and can't remember the correct name - will look it out and post the name on here - I've used it and it did seem to attract bites more than maggots on their own.

cost £5 a bottle so if you try it and it doesn't work for you you've not lost much
