I got back into my fishing this year after a break of 4 years. In my box i found my drennan hook tyer(the maroon one without a twisty bit).I used it in the past but despite several hours trying i can't remember how to use it .Some instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Got one, can't use it.

Got an original Matchtyer when it was Rosewood's design back in the 70s. That works well, but I tend to tie them by hand even with failing eyesight now.

I can tie a grinner knot blindfolded in pitch black though once I have the line through the eye.

1. Put the hook in with point inside the clamp.
2. Keeping the line taut, pass it round the wire clamp and back towards the hook.
3. Twist the tyer making ten turns on the hook shank.
4. Pass the line over the little peg and, keeping the line taut, slip the line off the wire clamp and pull gently till the loose end pulls thru the loop.

Job done.

Best I can do mate. Don't put too much tension on the line or you will finish up with a pigs tail.
