Help re Barbel Society venue for Essex

Calling all Essex Anglers! I have recently become Barbel Society Regional Organiser for Essex and I am seeking the help of Essex anglers who might know of a suitable venue to hold a meeting (non-members of the BS will be welcome). I would prefer a venue centre county, big enough and with a bar (of course). Does anyone out there know of somewhere?

Alan, you could try the hall at the Marconi Social Club, Beehive Lane, Chelmsford. They have a good sized hall - it will hold at least a couple of hundred people - and it has a stage with PA system and a bar in the hall.

Thanks folks. I agree Alf that the Marconi club would be ideal - big hall, stage and bar and a big car park but, I'm sorry to say, it is way over the top for charges. Just out of the question.

However, I think I may have found somewhere and I am in the process of trying now to get a meeting organised.
