nothing to feel guilty about as none of us do as much floatfishing as we'd like ,i try to do as much as i can but keep getting troubled by nuisance fishing like barbel & chub fishing.

The Wallis cast certainly is easier with line off the bottom, but on the rivers I fish, you only need to pull a few yards off the reel, using two loops, to get across the river. Most occasions, you need to fish the flow and deeper water down the middle anyway and a little flick with the thumb is sufficient.
