Any good?

Or what are the alternatives for landing medium size fish?

Stuart I've got one and I love it. Its light weight, strong & well made but it's not cheap at ?40. I got it because I was sick of the problems associated with the cheaper handles.

Most of my fishing is for specimen fish so the net handle has to be quite strong and the Drennan fits the bill nicely. I?ve teamed it up with a Fox Predator spoon and although the spreader is a bit dodgy I like the size and balance. If I had a complaint it would be that it?s a bit long and when it?s got the net on it over balances my rod quiver but if you looking for a light strong handle you won?t go far wrong with the Drennan Specialist.

Thanks for the feedback Eric.

I've heard of a few problems with the Twistlock. You had any?

Also when you say its a bit long, surely you haven't got to have it extended to full length?

Stuart, I?ve not had any problems with the twist lock, but I could see how, if you where heavy handed you could strip the thread.

No I don't have it extended... Lol, the handle is 5ft long when not extended and then I put the net on it takes it to over 6ft long making it unwieldy and awkward when its in my quiver I've got round this by putting the net in my chair when walking from swim to swim...

I've got the Drennan, it's a brilliant bit of kit in my opinion, I did have a problem with it initially, the twist lock was a bit "tempremental" but I took it back, got a replacement and it's been excellent. I reckon it's strong enough for all nets including 36" and 42" Carp and Pike nets, press it against the floor and you don't fear it cracking or snapping. As said above not cheap but a good handle, just give the twist lock a good seeing to in the shop to make sure it does what it's supposed to time and again before you buy.

I asked a number of experienced anglers about this landing net handle and teh feedback was good enough to add it to my wanted list. I haven't put my hand in my pocket yet though!

I am in the market for a new landing net handle as well but I was waiting until the Evesham Festival so I can try them rather than buy one blind.

When we fished Clattercote earlier this year Graham Marsden was showing me his handle, The Easynet and it looked and felt a nice handle, he was pleased with it anyway.
