I've just joined a local club and have today sampled one of their lakes for the first time.

Armed with some local info from a couple of tackle shops I fished from about 2pm to 7:30pm and really enjoyed it!

Only had 3 Tench up to around 2lb and 3 Crucians to about a 1lb plus a load of small Roach and Perch. But it was great to fish a new water and try and work it out.

The results didn't quite match the anticipation but the fish I did land were pristine and gave me a hint of what may yet to come!

I love fishing new venues.

Totally agree Neil,

And even better to fish a new venue and catch!

I have just started exploring my clubs stillwaters this last month. So far I have managed three visits between two venues.

The first was a blank, the second produced carp of 19, 16, 15, 13 and a lovely 5lb tench and the third carp of 12, 13 and a 3lb bream.

Next visit I'm going to take feeder and float rods, and try and avoid those pesky 'nuisance' carp! Chuffin marvellous.

Good luck with your ongoing explorations...
