I find using white maggots is best, dont ask why but they seem to turn quicker. What I do is buy them a week before I need them, empty them into an old washing up bowl or similar and leave them in the garage or somewhere warmish, riddle each day as some will turn quicker than others. Once turned I keep them in a tub with wet paper,keep wetting each day. You can always keep them in a small amount of water, preferably in a fridge to halt the turning process. The easiset way really is to order them from a tackle shop a couple of days before hand.
Me old chap used to put them in a bucket wrapped(the maggots) in a wet tea towel, but I could never get the same results.
