:):) I know how particular we anglers can be about certain items of our tackle
make of line, make of swivels etc what about you and hooks?.
I know that I will only use owner hooks for my barbell, chub ,carp, pikeand tench fishing for all the rest I use tubertini hooks.
what about you?.

....I have fished through fishless days that I remember happily without regret.
....Roderick haig-brown.

If I am fishing a hair over gravel for Barbel or Carp my current favourite hooks are the Teflon coated, super sharp, short shanked and reversed pointed 'Fox SSBP's. Another hook I like for this is the Korum Teflon wide-gape hook.

If I need a longer shank for sinking into pieces of meat then I don't have any problems using the Drennan specialist Barbel hooks.

If I am using small 7mm pre-drilled pellets on a hair then I often use Korum QuickStop hooks.

For smaller sizes (14 and smaller) it varies depending on baits I am using and the species I am after and the length of pre-tied hooklenghs (when used).

Preston PR400 series for me, mostly 434 (light) & 456 (medium/heavy) tied using a Drennan hook tyer. I've used Kamasan & Drennan previously, of which both makes are fine, but am comfortable with the Preston's now.

It depends on the type of fishing and target species really...I like Partridge trebble hooks for deadbaiting, drennan super spades and animals for nearly all my float fishing and for all species. I've had some quite chunky barbel on the super spades and animals in sizes as small as 18's and they've never showed a sign of bending out...unles the fish is foul hooked but even then they do take a lot of stick before popping open.
If ledgering I often use an eyed hook to enable tying the knotless knot although I still use spade ends on occassio either attatching a hair or fishing with the bait on the hook.

I'm a big fan of Kamasan Hooks, i have tried others but i always go back to using Kamasan, it's just a confidence thing.

I find Kamasan hooks very good too. I particularly like the B511 pattern for roach and dace. They are strong for such a fine wire hook, I've sometimes landed mullet on them which I have hooked accidentally when fishing for roach.

I prefer wide-gaped round bend hooks for just about everything. I find you miss fewer bites than when using a crystal bend hook, even though that is supposed to give better presentation when fishing with maggots.

I've tried many but can't say that I've ever been too fussy over hooks... as long as they're sharp, the size I need and the relevant strength for what I'm after I'm reasonably happy.

Current array includes Kamasan B911 for most of my general fishing along with some Drennan Super Specimen in larger sizes, Korda in larger sizes and Korum banded hairs, the latter two which I generally tend to use for the heavier stuff like carp and barbel.

Drennan specialist for me, tried others but keep coming back to Drennan.

It's definately a confidence thing, because when I loose a fish on a non Drennan I blame the hook, when I loose one on a Drennan then I think it's just one of those things.
