I own a Normark Titan 2000 but never owned the previous 1000 model. Has anyone, by any chance, ever owned both and, if so, how does the 1000 stack up in comparison?

Thanks muchly, all. :)

Can't help you there Phil, I also use the Titan 2000 but have not used a 1000 series rod. As the 2000 series were the first to develop carbon thin enough to do away with the spliced tip this could be the major difference although the 2000's are generally thought of as the better rod. Probably Mark Wintle is the man who would know more.

Yep, good advice. I was just curious really, never even held the 1000 model. Think you're right though. Ticking the yes box now. :)

Love both my titan and avenger 14ft 3 piece 1000's. Very sweet actions for not having extensions in them.

I have and use both the 1000 and 2000. The 1000 is not as fast and tippy as the 2000 but is still a great rod and more suited for waggler.

I have got one of the first range of Titans, with full length cork handle etc. Still a perfectly usable rod for light float fishing, trotting etc, but I prefer to use a Daiwa Amorphous Whisker which is much newer (probably early-mid 1990s!). In fishing rods, as with rock music, i tend to be about 23 years behind the times on most things - the 23 year rule. With cars i am relatively contemporary with only a 10 year old estate at the moment.

Have to admit Chub, I quite like the idea of a 25 yr old girlfriend.....:)

Knowing my luck though, I'd be clogging up A & E by Friday.....:eek:mg:
