Do hybrids reproduce hybrids?

Just thinking it looks like a not quite right roach/bream hybrid that's then been crossed with a bit of rudd

Considering what Ray and S-Kippy have said...I did a little bit of investigating and I have changed my mind and agree with both of them....they are almost certainly Bitterling in my reconsidered opinion.

Its a Bitterling.

I'm trying to catch one on a local pond - using proper angling methods - 26 on 12oz hooklength - I've been told to give up on the pinkies, squats and worms - and try punched bread instead. If / When I catch one it'll be on the "How did you get on?" thread - eventually!

We have about 5-6 ponds with them around here.

I'd heard of Bitterling but had never seen one, going by the picture and what google has thrown up I would say they're dead ringers.

Bitterling it is then :)

Looks like a Bitterling to me too.

They have a strange reproductive routine where the female deposits her eggs into a mussel and the male then fertilizes the water around so the mussel sucks it in.

Amazing little fish.
