Christ thats a long session, 12 tonight until August. Not sure i can take the long off work. :D:D

This i will be having a go at, there is one water in mind, but hard, but thats part of the Challenge.

I wonder if Skippy will join me on this water, he has fished it.

Dang it, I had my first one today, 3lb 7oz. No picture though, it was a scabby old thing and I wanted to get it back in the water as soon as possible.

NO :D:D

Plenty of scales out there that don't cost the earth. It's not about numbers so much, just about knowing the weight of the fish your catching.

I dont weigh every fish i catch, but on a new water I will. I have found that fish can differ from water to water. Tench short and wide, Pike long and just for the bream lovers, some are deeper. So i get a better picture after a while of the fish size for that water.

I've only weighed 3 fish before and that was at the request of my mates using their scales. I'll looking some cheap scales. Got any advice on cheap and compact ones?

If you're anywhere near Manchester, Tom, I have a set you can have for nothing. I was recently given some of the digital variety, thus the spare set. Send me a pm if interested....

Just pay spiders a large country's GDP and he will pop round and weigh it for you. As a bonus for your expenditure you will win the challenge.

Very gracious offer, unfortunately I'm in Wiltshire so a fair few miles away from you. I have had a look around and found an analogue set in go outdoors for 11 quid, reckon that's the ones for me. I tend to ruin anything electrical while fishing so will avoid digital ones. Now got Monday and Tuesday next week for tench fishing. Weather's not looking pretty for it though ?

Tom,

I am in Hertfordshire, the weather hasn't been that bad, a little soft frost this morning, but a lovely warm day.

The weekend wasn't that great, but a mate of mine had a couple of small Tench on Sunday. If this week carries on like today, it may well turn on the Tench.

Fingers crossed for you mate, good luck.

I had 3 tench from a club pit on a short session (late morning/early afternoon) in brilliant 'effin sunshine last week Ray....
